DPDB meeting held in Mon

Mon district DPDB meeting for the month of January 2020 was held at Wangkhao Govt College (WGC) Mon on January 17, under the chairmanship of vice chairman DPDB & deputy commissioner, Mon Thavaseelan K.

According to DIPR, the meeting started with the introduction of chaplain Rev. Takyong who was newly appointed for looking after the spiritual affairs of the district.

The agenda discussed were creation of village guards post for the villages, namely S/Lokyo, L/Wasa, Longshen and Totok Omlen as suggested by advisor Pohwang Konyak. The matter was discussed in the house and the undertaking of further necessary action has been forwarded to the concerned department.

Regarding the creation of awareness of schemes for minorities, the DC called upon all departments to create awareness about schemes that are specifically targeted for the minorities. He urged the departments to put in extra effort to create awareness and reach out to those who are supposed to benefit from the schemes.

The programme on the national immunization day for intensive pulse polio immunization which is going to be held from January 19 was also brought up in the house and Kechongol Sophie, chief medical officer intimated that the medical department will be visiting house to house to administer the vaccine.

Indian postal payments bank manager Sumit explained the formalities on how to open the bank account and the various services and facilities that are being offered by the bank.  He further hoped that where the beneficiaries are being left out or are facing any difficulties in availing the services, the departments will extend their support to reach out to more beneficiaries. DC specifically requested the Rural Development, Health and Family Welfare and Social Welfare departments to extend their fullest cooperation.

Various measures and suggestions for cleaning of Mon town were discussed. Preventive measures which needed to be undertaken to prevent further deterioration of the Tizit Bridge was also discussed.

The house also discussed on various needs of Wankhao Govt. College. Principle, M. L Ngullie listed out the immediate needs of the college which are very urgent in view of the upcoming NAAC assessment. He also put forward requirement of an amount of Rs. 28.5 lakhs which will be needed for undertaking the necessary measures for its upkeep.

The meeting concluded with a prayer by Rev. Takyong. A brief report on departmental activities in respect of the district cultural office, Mon was presented by Akai Konyak on behalf of district cultural officer, Mon.

Presentation on Sensitization program on NAAC assessment was given by Esther P Konyak, Asst. Professor, Wangkhao Govt. College.
