Awareness programme conducted by Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan

An awareness programme was conducted by Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan, Mon under the initiative of District Administration on 17th March, 2021 at college auditorium with Dr Ngampa Sangme, Medical Officer, District Hospital, Mon as the Resource Person. The programme began with Mr. Joseph Hapwang Master Volunteer, NMBA speaking about the campaign of substance abuse free India. He highlighted on substance abuse and addiction as an urgent problem having high risk and posing threat to family and society. Taking this into consideration, the Central Government entrusted Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment as the nodal ministry spearheading the campaign. He also mentioned the Ministry entrusting responsibility for launching the awareness campaign at different levels.

Analysing the threat and problem, a plan is adopted to be implemented in 272 most affected districts all over India, of which, Mon district is covered under the plan. He encouraged the students to be responsible citizens and to increase community participation in reducing individual as well as group abuse of drugs. The Resource Person gave a power point presentation on the ill effects of substance abuse, categorizing the topic into viz..type of substances, signs and symptoms, and benefits of quitting the substances. It was followed by interactive session with the students.

The programme was attended by Dr.I. Wati Imchen, the Principal of Wangkhao Govt. College, Mon, 11 faculty members, and 122 students from BA 2nd semester.
